Ok, greetings to your band from Ukrainian fans! Do you know anything about Ukraine? No, unfortunately absolutely nothing. It`s cool to know, that Sanitys Dawn is well known in the Ukraine. Thanks for your support! You say "Play fast or don't!". Have you ever played slowly? What was your slowest track and what is the fastest one? We did play some few slower heavy Deathmetal songs in the past, maybe 1994 or so. It sounded a bit like Bolt Thrower, a slow but fantastic old Deathmetal band. I guess on the “mangled in the meatgrinder” album is a slow song called “Morgue”? The fastest song I can`t name. Take our newer material, it`s a mixture between hyperfast blast attacks, slower parts, breaks, chaos and so on. It would be boring just to play any song as fast as you can. As I understood from site, you formed in 1987 and first release came in 1992. Tell us more about times of your beginning: whose idea was to form a band? What was the general atmosphere in UG back in those times? How and when you came to grindcore? Etc… We formed the band in the late 80s, but we were just hanging around and played some shit, nothing serious. We just wanted to play some music, but couldn`t find a similar style, we were too different. We just recorded some rock stuff in our practise room, nothing to release. We played in the first years with three people, then Prändy and Topsy joined in in 1995. The 80s and 90s were really different times. I was involved in the early German punk scene and played drums in a punk band for 4 years back in 1982, after that I just jammed around in our rehearsal room with some other lost guys and at that time the record “Halfway to Sanity” from the “Ramones” came out. Our former singer took the word “Sanity” from that album and then we had a new name for a new band. We recorded our first tapes and came through the years to Grind with gory lyrics but at the time some idiots started the porno shit we decided to change lyrics and with the lyrics a bit our style which grow to pure Grindcore/HC. Porno lyrics and sexism got nothing to do with grindcore! What is the idea of band title? Is there any hope that people get smarter, how do you think? It should mean the „end of mental sanity”. I don`t know exactly if thats the right translation, but however, thats our name since the beginning... You started with fantastic goregrind. What were the influences for you those times? How did the line-up change since then? At those times we loved (and still love) bands like Carcass (my all-time-favourite), Bolt Thrower, Obituary and also Sepultura. Our influences weren`t only Grind or Deathmetal bands, I listened to Cro-Mags, Suicidal Tendencies, TSOL and all the other US-HC/punk bands in the late 80s, early 90s. Our singer listened to Blackmetal, which absolutely wasn`t my cup of tea. We played in the first years with three people, then Prändy and Topsy joined in in 1995. We had 4 different guitar players. "Mangled in the meatgrinder" is one of my top-albums! I suppose, it bring you a lot of fame in underground scene… That`s true. The album was really successful in the scene and still is! Many great international bands mention “mangled…” as their top influences. And we`re very proud about that fact… Don't you plan to re-release all the eldest tapes and demos? Yeah, Power it up plan to re-release the first and the second album. But not the demos, that`s not necessary I think. After the split with Fuck…I'm Dead you changed from goregrind to grindcore/fastcore. What was the reason? Was it evolution or revolution to your opinion? We were one of the early German bands that played goregrind with sarcastic and a bit funny lyrics but ultrabrutal musick. We recorded 2 gore albums “Cryptic menu” and “Mangled in the meatgrinder”, the 3. album “Chop copper” was a bit different with more punk and HC influences and the next recordings were HC Grind, fastcore, power violence, whatever the fuck you wanna call it. For me it`s just Grind. We dindn`t change so much. “Cryptic menu” was grind and the tracks on the Mindflair-split are grind too! But another style of grind, so whats the problem that some people seem to have about it? Sure, we still love to play “more gore more fun”, “looks like rancid juice”, “blinddarm” and all those classics from our earlier times. How do you define the style you play for yourselves? HC Grind, fastcore, power violence, whatever the fuck you wanna call it!!! For me it`s just grindcore. When you first played abroad? Where and how it was? Our first shows in foreign countries were in 1997 at the Morbid Records tour together with South Africas “Groinchurn” and “Krabathor” from Czech Republic. That was 19 shows in 24 days and we played in 4 different countries, most gigs in Czech Republic. It was an amazing experience. After that tour Sanitys Dawn got much more popular. The tour was very helpful for us. Later on you had tons of gigs. How many countries did you visit with shows? What gig/tour was the most memorable and why? We played in France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, USA, Poland, Czech Republic and Austria. We had some very crazy gigs with “Yacöpsae” in France at the “Squat de le 13” and very good gigs with Italiens “Cripple Bastards”. The US tour was the last highlight we had. It was very successful and lot of fun. Greetings to “Unholy Grave” and “Magrudergrind”!!! So what are the latest news from band?... ok, I know ))), it's the split with Mindflair. Can you describe us what and how many tracks are there? How to get it? You can order the album via Power it up and all the other mailorders. We have 7 tracks on the CD. Our style is typical Sanitys Dawn: HC, grind, metal and some punk influences. All in all it`s total chaos!! The last song is a Mindflair cover! It was very much fun for us to cover it, because we know the band since our 1997 tour! What is the grindcore scene in Germany? Do people like grindcore if to compare with other styles as death-metal, black-metal, heavy etc.? I think grindcore not too big in Germany. There are many good shows in any city but it was and will ever be total underground music. That`s the reason we make this music and you make your intie, right? It`s always a lot of fun to play and it`s cool to answer and intie from the Ukraine we`ve never been! Thanks for that, man! What German bands would you recommend to us? We have many good bands such as “Jesus Cröst”, “Mindflair”, “Entrails Massacre”, “Yacöpsae”, … just to name a few. How did you sign to Power It Up? How do you like the cooperation? We knew Tom for many years and a time ago he came up with the idea to put the “ep years” CD out. Then came the split with Mindflair and the future plans to re-release our first and second album. It´s a good cooperation with him and he is a cool guy. What is your opinion about: a) politics b) EU c) environment d) illegal migrants e) weed f) large hadron collider g) world war III? a) I personally don`t care too much about politics. They`re all corrupt criminals!!! b) EU? Hm, I think for me as a normal man there´s no difference. But I`m not so educated in politics, I`d rather go down the pub and drink some beers… c) don`t know exactly what you mean. D) oh no, you really have difficult questions. But to be honest, I don`t like illegal migrants. e) you mean pussys? Or sissys? I don`t like them neither. They just should sit in their room and cry! f) I don`t understand g) World war III??? When was that? Maybe I sat in the pub when it was… No, I`m joking, but I don`t care too much about such topics in the whole world. I have enough to do with myself, my wife, my unborn child, my bands, my friends, my hangovers,… Do you already have any plans for future releases and/or gigs? Our next gig is in December, we`re just planning a few gigs for the next year. The next release will be a split 7” with “Wadge” which should be out spring 2009. What of your present releases do you consider the best one? I really like the songs on the split with “Yacöpsae” I think it would be very difficult to realise. But if someone pay us the tickets to fly over there, why not. The same thing we did in the US. The organisers sent us money for the tickets, so we could afford the US-tour. This is it. Thanx for the conversation, and your final words of wisdom… Thanx for the interview! Wisdom??? I`m the wrong person for that, sorry… Greetings to the Ukranian scene! www.sanitysdawn.de www.myspace.com/sanitysdawn E-mail: Ця адреса електронної пошти приховується від різних спамерських пошукових роботів.
